If you are taking the time to research Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), it is very important that you are researching the right information. There are a couple of steps you can take to ensure the information you are researching is credible. The following are two points for you to look at:
Verify the age of the articles you are researching – Like much to do with the internet, Search Engine Optimisation is an industry that constantly evolves. The age of an article can play a large part in the credibility of the information you are reading; factors that were important a year ago in SEO, today have very little weight and are not worth devoting as much time and energy to. Link pages are one of these factors. (Discussion article on link building coming shortly) In some cases SEO techniques that were very effective in the past do not work at all anymore, or in some cases can even go as far as getting you banned from search engines altogether.
The next thing to ensure is that the article is written by a credible source. This can be difficult to establish at times, but often the best way is to talk to experts in the SEO field, or read articles written by various experts to see if there is a common element to what you are reading.
As the search engine companies keep secret most of the exact algorithms they use to list websites, much of what is written and the techniques used are through both experience as well as experimentation. Most SEO techniques can be applied to a website regardless of the industry or type of website, but as each website is different, the end result of two different websites where the same SEO techniques have been applied will be as well.
Content plays a major factor in this.
Content is, and will most likely always remain an important factor in helping to gain strong search engine optimisation rankings, as the content of a website will usually provide a clear understanding to the search engines of what your website is about.
It is really important that if you are employing SEO to your website that the methods you do use. If you do use the wrong methods, you can be banned from search engines altogether which will mean you will often need to start from scratch. This can take many months of hard work, and lost business. If you are unsure, it is best if you use a professional Search Engine Optimisation company to optimise your website.
Note: Many Search Engine Optimisation companies are not using current and up-to-date techniques when it comes to search engine optimisation. If you have been doing your research, make sure that you ask key questions to test an SEO company’s knowledge. If you don’t feel comfortable with the answers provided you are best looking at a different company.

Search engine optimization is all about increasing your website’s visibility on search engine results pages, in order to attract internet searchers to your website. This is important because the traffic you receive from search engines is likely to be highly targeted. This article contains some essential SEO tips that could significantly improve your site’s search engine results page ranking.

Using image maps for website navigation is a bad idea for webmasters looking to optimize search engine performance. While there are ways to link images to keywords for SEO, when it comes to a navigation menu, an image cannot provide more than a tiny fraction of the SEO power offered by a well-tweaked text menu.

One of the best ways to get good search engine optimization is to make unique domain names. This is very important because this will elevate the search ranking associated with your website. The more unique the domain name is, the easier it is for consumers to find your website.

To quickly optimize a blog for search engines, add an SEO plug-in. There are a variety of these sorts of plug-ins available for sites, like WordPress and Blogger. These plug-ins will automatically complete standard search engine optimization tasks for you, allowing you to focus on more in-depth ways of boosting your search engine traffic.

For the best search engine optimization, befriend an owner of a high page ranked site! If you can get someone from a site like this to link you or recommend your site, it will immediately raise your site’s standings and make it get more hits. Usually a high page rank indicates a high trust, so the back links through their site will help your website to gain more respect.

Keep your HTML title tags free of “stop words” to ensure the tags are properly indexed by search engines. Some search engines eliminate common words like a, an, the, and, but, in, on, he, she and other similar words to increase the relevant links and improve on the speed with which results are returned. Keeping these words from title tags that receive the most weight in Search Engine Optimization ensures your site is properly indexed.

For optimal search engine optimization you should strive to use your keywords in any links that are posted on your page. Search engines give preferences to links over plain text so try to create links that utilize your keywords. Also test surrounding links tend to get higher preferences so use them around your links as well.

When setting up your site with SEO, be aware of how search engine spiders view your page. For example, while using images for navigation links may look attractive to human viewers, it will hurt your search engine rankings. Your rankings, and your reputation for users with accessibility issues, will be increased if you use primarily text or at least provide a text alternative for image links.

At the beginning of this article, we explained why good search engine optimisation is important, so start using some of the ideas mentioned in the tips above and see how high you can get your website ranked. Also be sure to keep up to date with the latest search engine optimization industry news.

Social Media for Business – Myths about Social Media for Businesses

Vivere Digitale - 14 Marzo 2019
Source: Flickr

In the world of business, marketing strategies and techniques are riddled with myths, just to discourage people from using them. When social media became a popular marketing avenue or option for business owners, it had its own myths that discouraged traditional and old-school business owners from using them. Before the advent of Twitter and Facebook, it was considered a leap of faith for business owners to abandon traditional forms of marketing and use Internet marketing as a viable marketing option. So, what are these myths?

1.) Everybody’s on social media – Internet marketers will perpetuate these myths to business owners who think social media sites like Facebook can rake in millions of visitors. Internet marketers will do anything to hook business owners in, which is why this is the most prevalent myth. Facebook and Twitter may have millions of visitors, but it won’t guarantee that you’ll earn the same amount of visitors for your account or page. This is due to the fact that not everyone on social media is looking for you. If you’re using social medial, you need to set a realistic expectation on the kind of traffic you want to generate, like hundreds or a thousand a month.
2.) Social media requires special companies – Yes and no. Social media management is something that can be done in-house or you can hire companies to do it for you. The latter is often perpetuated as a myth to generate customers. Social media management is not that difficult. The concepts are easy to learn and the theories are easy to understand. There is no need for a specialized degree or graduate program to be considered as a social media guru.
3.) Social media generates traffic overnight – Again, yes and no. While social media will boost traffic to your company website or office, it won’t be in the hundreds or thousands overnight. Traffic generation with social media is gradual. You’ll increase your traffic the more you work on your social media efforts, which will bring us to the next myth.
4.) Social media requires 8 hours of work and attention – This is not true. You’d only have to spend at least a couple of hours to update your Facebook or any other social media account. This is to ensure customers that the page or account is being managed and they can expect fresh updates from you. This also gives them an idea that your business’s social media account is an avenue for customer interaction, which is a huge bonus.

Social media may have its myths, but it shouldn’t stop business owners from taking advantage of using sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Social Media for Business – Full Benefits of Social Media for Business

Social media sites are everywhere. Hollywood celebrities and corporate executives have one or two accounts in social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. Internet marketers and consultants claim that social media is a good avenue for businesses to reach out to their customers, but is there any statistical data that would back this claim up? Numerous surveys from a couple of years ago have returned interesting data like the demographics of people using the Internet, the age group who dominates certain social media sites, and so on.

A couple of weeks ago, some new data have been presented by surveys done by Social Media Examiner. According to the survey, 89% of small and medium-scale businesses (SMB) have reported an increase of exposure and 75% have claimed that increase in traffic is one of the two biggest benefits of social media. Other benefits included marketplace insight (69%), more loyal fans (65%), lead generation (61%), and improved search engine visibility and rankings (58%).

Amongst these respondents, 79% have integrated social media into their business’ marketing activities.
What other statistical data can persuade business owners to include social media in their marketing arsenal?
– 78% of small businesses get 25% or ¼ of their new customers from social media sites. This means that 1 out of 4 customers have heard about your business from your social media account. Social media provides business owners with both free and paid exposure to a wide-range of receptive customers.
– 27% of Americans check their social media accounts multiple times a day.
Facebook fans tend to spend more online at a rate of 43% more than non-Facebook users. Social media sites have helped businesses increase their business visibility or bring traffic to their website.
– 45% of adults check recognized brand pages. Examples of these pages are Nike, Reebok, Ford, and Samsung. This simply means that social media sites are becoming essential for building any business brand, thereby solidifying its purpose as a premiere social brand builder.
– People are more likely to remember a Facebook post than a sentence from a book, and more likely to remember a post than a random face.

What do all these mean? It simply means that your customers are waiting for you to create a Facebook or any social media page. It’s not enough for you to create a website because they’d rather view your business if it came from something they were familiar with, like Facebook or Twitter. Take the time to check out Twitter and Facebook and see what they have in store for you.

Social Networks With Bright Future In 2013

There is no stopping social networks from influencing real society this 2013. It will become stronger and better with new social networks that will carve their influence and earn their spurs in the New Year. As people spend more time in social networks, more ideas will come up to bring about a dynamic shift in how we use the Internet. Let us take a peek at the social networks that are expected to make a huge impact in 2013.
Foursquare
As more marketers use location-based data, Foursquare is expected to be at the forefront of this revolution. While most people using Foursquare are avid fans of Facebook and Twitter; it offers a different experience. Foursquare combines user driven content and location service. This formula spells success for anybody that is engaged in social networks and wants to harness its power.
Friendster
Friendster is not dead! Friendster is not dead! At least that is what the people behind it want to happen. As the emerging social gaming network, people will still have much use of this once kind of social media well into 2013. Having games is the very element that knocked them out in the top perch by a certain Facebook. However this coming New Year, Friendster will have a bolder stature and a brighter future as it pushes the envelope even further. Further into the future of social gaming which they hope becomes their second wind.
My Space
Another casualty of the Facebook revolution is My Space. After getting traction, My Space lost luster and played second fiddle to mighty Facebook until….until it gets its revenge. My Space’s repacking has positioned itself as a top social entertainment site. Musicians and the music industry can use the platform to launch their plethora of musical treasure without fear of the Napster effect of old. Now people can have free music legally. The affordability of entertainment packages will make My Space the new iTunes in 2013.
Spotify
Spotify is a great social entertainment network but its drawback is that it is very limited. More people are seeing a lot of potential for Spotify as the next best thing only if it can be more widely available all over the world. Spotify’s strength is in the mobile arena which My Space is struggling to compete. If Spotify becomes more available, there is no stopping it from even threatening mighty Facebook.
Bebo
If you are okay to have a username assigned to you, there is no stopping you from lovigBebo. What makes Bebo a threat to Facebook (insert laughter here), is that it is very customizable. The personalization choices abound in Bebo. However using CSS and HTML is out of the question so don’t even bother learning it to improve your profile on Bebo. Its rich media and entertainment platform makes it a very potent site that will eat into your Facebook experience. Will it become the Facebook killer? Not if Facebook can help it. But Facebook should not rest on its laurels with a potential giant killer lurking.
Other potential big bang social sites for the year have made solid marks in the last one or two years. Among these would be Pinterest and MySpace, but then that would remain to be seen. We have the abovementioned social networking sites that might just stumble upon the bigger and older ones! Indeed, the internet marketers must always be on the watch for what’s to come. They must make sure they maximize potentials of these sites if they want to gain edge over competition. After all, social media is one big leap ahead – if you’re doing it right!

Social Media for Business – Interact with Customers Better

Social media sites like Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter have one thing in common: they are built upon a member-base that amounts to hundreds of millions of unique users. Exaggerated? This is the average number that most surveys are returning, and from these surveys, it has been found that these sites have thousands of unique viewers logging in at any given time. Why should these statistical data be of importance to anyone?

Given the fact that we are now living in the age of digital information, people access the Internet for a lot of reasons. We access Google to look for information on restaurants, cinemas, shops nearby, and even travel services. People also log on to these social media sites to look for something: INFORMATION. People log on to Twitter or Facebook to look for information other than “who’s watching what?” and “where people hang out?” People log on to Facebook or Twitter because businesses have created a social media account to spread information about their promos, products, and even serve as an avenue for customer interaction.

But let’s focus on customer interaction. Twitter and Facebook have features which allow page owners or account owners to reply directly to another status. Now, what if you have a Facebook page about your computer hardware retail store? Supposing you post a customized rig for sale and a customer has posted a comment and inquired as to how much. Unlike emails, Facebook and Twitter provides real-time notifications on the activities on your page or account. This makes it easy for you or any of your business’ representatives to respond to the question.

Social media is a great avenue for interacting customers because you know what they want without having to go through the hassles of reading long-winded emails or answering calls. The posts are instantaneous and the interaction itself is instant. Business owners can post and customers can post a comment afterwards. This helps allows customers to be more confident about their transactions with various businesses that post their products on social media sites. Apart from that, your business’ Facebook or any other social media account is sure to rake in thousands or even millions of unique viewers a month. If you can spend a few hours or resources to hire an individual to facilitate your social media account, you’ll find that it will be the next best thing that you can do to your business.

Social media marketing has taken the World Wide Web by storm. Different forms of social media have popped up left and right. Consumers have taken to it very well and businesses have made a fortune thanks to it. It’s obvious that social media marketing isn’t going anywhere and that it’s here to stay. This means that a lot of different trends are sure to come out. Here are some things to look out for in the world of social media marketing.

1. More Videos – YouTube has dominated social media videos. As people have seen the success of this there are likely to be other platforms used. A lot of other video sharing websites are likely to pick up the pace and keep up with Youtube. With the number of people already making use of YouTube it will only be natural for businesses to try other platforms which are more business oriented. Live streaming and interactive broadcasts may also start entering the social media marketing.

2. Going Mobile – the internet is everywhere and accessing it can be done from mobile phones. Social networks such as Facebook and Twitter already offer versions that can be used on mobile phones. Other social media platforms are likely to follow in suit allowing customers to take social media marketing to the next level. Now, people don’t even have to go to their computers to be able to gain access to social networks.

3. Questions and Answers – while Question & Answer (Q&A) sites like Yahoo! Answers and JustAnswer have been around for a while, not a lot of attention has been given to these. With the continuous rise of social media marketing, the trend for purchasing things may change. More and more people are likely to visit these types of websites for quick information on products or services that they may be interested in. Whether they decide to buy something or not can be affected by this type of sites. On the other hand, businesses can easily use these sites to collect important data and feedback that can affect how they market or sell products and services.

4. Integration – the use of social media doesn’t end with the different networks that we use for marketing. It moves a step up by having it integrated into websites. If you use this to interact with your consumers, why not put it on your website? Twitter, Facebook, Stumbleupon and many others are just examples of social networks that let you integrate their platforms on your website. Why wait for your customers to visit these sites when you can bring it to them directly through your website?

5. WordPress – this open source publishing application is most likely the most social media friendly. It comes with an extensive list of interactive features, not to mention a lot of plugins to enhance a website. The best part is that a lot of this can be accessed free of charge. Many of these plugins that you get for free are also ideal for search engine optimization of your web content.

6. Location Based Marketing – checking into a business has become a popular trend on networks such as Groupon, Foursquare and others. As consumers continue to check into your business you can gain a lot of important information. You can get a better idea of who to sell to, what people want and more. In short, you can narrow down on your target market easily and get a higher return of investment. This is especially true for businesses that also have offline locations.

What To Look For In An SEO Training Course – Seven Important Qualities

Sardegna: Protesta dei pastori contro il prezzo del latte.

A track record of SEO success – Obviously one quality you should look for is a track record of success over a period of time in search engine optimisation and search engine marketing.

One quick way to check is to do a Google search on SEO training city, where city is your local area. (eg. SEO training Brisbane or Brisbane SEO training)

If the firm you are considering learning from doesn’t rank well then you may be better off looking elsewhere. It also pays to check their SEO client portfolio. Do they have a portfolio? If so, are their clients happy with their SEO work? A few phone calls and you can make sure.

An understanding of current SEO methods – SEO is a dynamic industry. As search engines update and improve their ranking algorithms, so also must SEO companies update their methods of getting and holding good search engine rankings.

If the SEO training course you considering is focused on keyword density, link exchanges and creating complex metatags, then choose again. These factors used to be very important 3-5 years ago. Not so now. The best SEO these days is about keyword research, anchor text, article marketing, directory marketing, getting one-way links and using social media.

Avoid astonishing promises – If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. If the SEO training course you are considering promises to show you how to rank in the top 5 in Google for any search term then find someone else. As a famous movie once said” They’re dreaming.

SEO is hard work and it does take time to rank well for competitive keyword phrases.

Determining the best keyword phrase to optimise for and then executing the optimisation over a period of time will eventually yield results.

Sound training methodology – Does the SEO training firm use qualified trainers? What are their qualifications and experience is both training and SEO. There’s nothing more disheartening that have a boring instructor who reads his or her notes and doesn’t believe in classroom interaction. Make sure your SEO trainer is both a good classroom trainer and experienced in SEO.

Hands-on experience – SEO theory should be backed up by hands-on practical experience where you get to immediately apply your new learning. Avoid any SEO training course where you are lectured to for a day or so without any hands-on experience. The best SEO courses are a combination of theory, example and practice.

Where possible you should have the opportunity to work on a real life SEO project and get the instructors help with that project.

Follow up support – The half life of any training course is about 4 days. Unless the theory is applied or revised, it leaves short-term memory and must be relearned. Make sure the training that you purchase includes some level of e-mail or telephone support. if they do, make sure you use it even if it’s just to make sure you are on the right track with your SEO projects. Good quality handouts, notes and access to online resources is also something to look for.
